Oddsession: Varsity Jacket

My dad tried to talk me into a varsity jacket a couple of times while I was in high school.

I wouldn't go for it.

I actually did have letters to put on it, but we had some nasty school colors (dingy, bad green and a puke-y gold) and besides, I didn't so much want a letterman's jacket as I wanted a boyfriend with a letterman's jacket. Yeah, that didn't really work out.

Fast forward, ahem, some years later and I have this insatiable desire for....a varsity jacket. It's the latest oddsession (see definition here). The chicks in the magazines all look so cool with the skinny pants and varsity jacket. Somehow I'm afraid I might look like I'm trying too hard since I'm fairly far removed from high school. • Junior varsity jacket ($88) from ShopNastyGal.com (possible the worst-named clothing site ever.)

• Funktional's varsity jacket ($290). Almost too cool for school.

• This 3.1 Phillip Lim jacket with leather sleeves ($1,450) is just too cool for my wallet.
