Some people work to cure cancer, others are fighting the war on poverty. Me? My selfless act is to help people spend money on stuff they need, like clothes and bags and makeup and, of course, killer shoes. But, that's not all. I like to eat. And complain (most specifically about how hard it is to be a mom). Oh, and obsess over the next perfect pair of shoes.

More September Reading
As much as fashion continues to move forward, it always circles back. The pictorial proof is in "New York Fashion Week: The Designers, the Models, the Fashions of the Bryant Park Era" by Eila Mell (Running Press, $30).
The new book chronicles the Bryant Park years of New York Fashion Week. Well, it's actually not so much a book book as a picture book, as it should be. The text is light, mostly Q and As with fashion types and highlighting models of the era with their vital stats. This book made me feel very, very short.
It's fun to look at the clothes over those past years and see the trends of the times (and how some are coming back). It's even more fun to look at fashion's favorite faces — and how very little they've changed. There are some good plastic surgeons out there, my friends. Not everyone ends up looking like Kenny Rogers.

Looks like a great read for the plastic surgery results alone!
