Put A Cork In It

Cork wedges are one of spring's hot trends. As usual, I was ahead of the curve* — two years ago I bought two pairs, one dark brown and one cream. The gaping hole in the "shoedrobe" was a pair of nude wedges that would go with everything.

Some of the contenders:
Franco Sarto "Flavor" wedge. A classic shape, these ($89) had great potential, but they just didn't move me.

Ann Taylor Loft Studded Wedge. It's like Lisa over at Respect the Shoes is my own personal shopping angel (or, would that be devil?) — finding things that I soon begin obsessing over. The Ann Taylor Loft studded wedge ($89.50) came in a lighter shade. They were 30 percent off. I hemmed, I hawed, they were gone.

Clark's Country Meadow. Again, very traditional styling but this pair ($89) just seemed so blah. I did try them on in the store, though, and they felt quite cushy.

Me Too "Jones" t-strap wedge. Ahhh, this was the pair ($89). A contemporary t-strap but oomphed up with snake print. Perfection. I ordered 'em and they're the right walkable height and very, very comfy — even more than the Clark's. Hello, wear-with-everything corksters!
*so far ahead that to some people — two years ago — I may have looked not-in-style. ;)
